Pune: 81st Defence Pension Adalat on June 21-22

Pune, June 3: The 81st Defence Pension Adalat will be held on June 21 and 22 at Air Force Medical College (AFMC) here for redressal of grievances of Defence pensioners residing in Maharashtra.

The two-day Adalat will be held under the aegis of Controller General of Defence Accounts, New Delhi and will be inaugurated by GOC-IN-C Southern Command Lieutenant General Aditya Singh.

Allahabad said defence personnel from other states will also be heard. This is the sixth Adalat in Maharashtra and the second in Pune. The city has 35,000 defence pensioners of the 1.5 lakh pensioners in Maharashtra, he said.

When asked about the problems faced by the pensioners, he said ''Sometimes widows don't get their dues. Many cases are pending with the Pension Disbursing Agencies (PDA). Sometimes there is a problem with banks. We are holding training for the bank officials dealing with pensions soon after the Adalat.'' The PCDA (Pensions), Allahabad is centrally responsible for the accounting and audit of pension payment which amounts to Rs 13,000 crore annually. The pension claims are received in the office through about 1,000 civilian head offices and 57 record offices located across the country.

All pensioners who have specific pension related grievance are required to be present with all relevant documents at around 0830 hrs on June 21 and 22. The hearing will be held from 0830 to 1730 hrs on both days.

Officials from Controller of Defence Accounts (CDA), Allahabad, Ministry of Defence, including the PCDA (Pensions), T P Mandal, Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), Abhijit Basu, IDAS, PCDA (SC), senior officers from the Ministry of Defence, Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) office, Command Hedquarters, Service HQs, Preliminary Selection Board's (PSBs) and other Executive authorities will be present in the Adalat.
