Youth assaulted, villagers observe hartal

Puducherry, June 2 (UNI) The villagers of 'Embalom' today resorted to a road blockade and hartal demanding the arrest of three persons who allegedly assaulted a local youth Dhanraj.

According to police, three persons assaulted Dhanraj over the sales of a cell phone and was admitted to the Government General Hospital yesterday. A complaint was lodged with 'Karikkalampakkam' police in the incident.

Senior police officals rushed to the spot and assured the villagers to take proper action, the trio were said to be hailing from Salem, following which the villagers called off their agitation.

As tension prevailed in the village heavy police pickets were posted.
