Chennai, Jun 2 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government today decided to drop suspension of government employees on the grounds of disciplinary action on retirement day.

A decision to this effect was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at the Secretariat here.

An official press release said till date the process of suspending the government employees on the day of their retirement on disciplinary grounds was in vogue.

''Now, the Cabinet has decided to do away with such a procedure'', it said.

The meeting also decided to bring in necessary amendments to the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act to remove the confusion caused by amendments brought in by the previous AIADMK regime bringing memorials and 'brindhavanams' under the purview of the Act.

It was also decided to follow the system that prevailed before 2003.
