SUCI condemns firing on agitating Gujjars in Rajasthan
Ahmedabad, June 2 (UNI) The Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) today strongly condemned the firing on the Gujjar community, agitating for its inclusion in the Scheduled Tribes category, describing it as ''a fascist act'' by the Rajasthan government.
In a statement here, SUCI general secretary Nihar Mukherjee severely indicted the Rajasthan government for not taking timely action to amicably settle the issue through dialogue with the protestors.
He said the Gujjars have for the last six years, demanding reservation under ST category. After failing to elicit any tangible response from the government, they went on the agitational path.
