According to the prosecution, Salem had allegedly made threatening calls to a South Delhi business man, Ashok Gupta in 2002 to extort an amount of Rs five crore. He was declared a proclaimed offender in this matter.
Police has already filed a chargesheet against the other five accused -- Pawan Mittal, Sajjan Soni, Raju Bhai, Mohammad Assraf and Chanchal Mehta.
The judge had yesterday rejected the plea of the public prosecutor for police custody of Salem and asked him to appear before the designated court.
