Hamirpur(HP), June 2: Polling was held up at five booths of Hamirpur constituency in Himachal Pradesh today due to non-functional electronic voting machines (EVMs), official sources said.

The sources, requesting anonymity told UNI here, that polling was held up at Panasai, Badaran, Bara and Nadaun and Hamirpur polling stations due to faulty EVMs.

Efforts are on to repair the machines or to replace them soon, the sources said.

Meanwhile, the state unit of the BJP has alleged that it was a deliberate attempt on part of the state government to delay polling and prevent people from voting against it in these booths.

Demanding a high level probe, a party spokesman said it was necessary to investigate as to why faulty EVMs were put to use in the elections.
