India to face shortage of 100,000 hotel rooms
Kochi, June 2 (UNI) India, a country which attract foreign tourists in large numbers, will face a shortage of 100,000 hotel rooms in the next three years, Union Tourism Secretary Christy L Fernandez said today.
Delivering the keynote address at a function organised by the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry to launch 'Clean Green City Drive' here, Mr Fernandez said the hospitality sector was also facing a shortage of more than 300,000 trained personnel.
Calling for a more service-oriented mindset among the youth, Mr Fernandez said this was a must for the hospitality industry to do well.
The Centre was planning to launch a nation-wide hospitality manpower development programme to address the shortage of skilled manpower, he added.
