Haryan Bijli Nigam to bring down transmission losses

Hisar, June 2 (UNI) The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has fixed an ambitious target to bring down Aggregate Transmission and Commercial (AT&C) losses by six per cent during the current financial year.

This was revealed at a meeting to review the development and operational activities of DHBVN, held here last evening under the chairmanship of Mr Ashok Lavasa, Financial Commissioner and Principle Secretary, Power.

Mr Lavasa said that level of the AT&C losses was the single one yardstick of an electricity distribution utility and DHBVN had done appreciable work by bringing down these losses by about three per cent last year. He was confident that the Nigam would achieve the target of further bringing down AT&C losses by six per cent during this year.

He said that financial performance of DHBVN had shown an upward trend, as monthly collection of revenue during last month had gone up to Rs 368 crore, which was a record. During last year, there had been eight per cent increase in energy purchase, ten per cent increase in billing and 9.5 per cent increase in revenue collection over the fiscal year 2005-06.

Mr Lavasa revealed that DHBVN has drawn an ambitious annual plan of over Rs 876 crores to strengthen and augment power distribution system in its area comprising of the districts of Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Bhiwani, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Mewat, Gurgaon and Faridabad.
