Govt mulls appeal against acquittal in bomb blast case: HM
Hyderabad, June 2 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government is considering to appeal against the acquittal of the nine accused in the 1993 Hyderabad bomb blast case by a city court yesterday, State Home Minister K Jana Reddy said today.
Parrying a question on the alleged failure of the state police to provide sufficient evidence on the alleged involvement of the nine in the bomb blast which claimed three lives, he told reporters here that the Government would decide on its next step after thoroughly studying the judgement of the court.
On the recent bomb blast in the Mecca Masjid, he expressed confidence that the culprits would be brought to book by the CBI, to which the case had been referred to.
The state police would extend all assistance to the CBI in the investigation, he added.
To a question, he said the State government was yet to hear from the Centre on take over of the case by the CBI.
Replying to another question, he said he would ensure that no case was foisted against innocent people in connection with rioting in the wake of the bomb blast which led to police firing.
