Govt committed to repatriation of non-local cops: Minister

Hyderabad, June 2 (UNI) Announcing that fresh notification would be issued to recruit 2,500 police personnel in Hyderabad this month, Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy today said super numerary posts would be created shortly to avert any law and order problem in the wake of repatriation of about 3,000 non-local constables in keeping with the Presidential Order and Government Order 610.

Dismissing as ''politically-motivated'' the opposition charge that the Government was dilly-dallying on repatriation of non-locals in the police department from Hyderabad, he told a press conference here that repatriation would be done in a phased manner till fresh recruitees were fully trained till December 2008 and without affecting, in any manner the functioning of the police department.

He attributed the delay to some of the affected police personnel moving court on technical grounds.

Creation of super numerary posts would be put before the Cabinet during its next meeting.

Pointing out that 60 non-local constables had already been repatriated, he said the Government was sincere in implementing GO 610.
