Delhi Metro anounces discount on purchase of smart cards

New Delhi, June 2 (UNI) The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) today announced a ten percent discount on all Metro smart cards purchased after June 4 onwards and has also reduced the security deposit for purchase of these cards from Rs 100 to Rs 50 only.

These cards can be purchased at the Customer Care Counter of all the Metro stations and have the added advantage of allowing passengers faster travel since they do not have to stand in queues for purchase of single journey tokens, said a DMRC official.

In addition, passengers will only have to pay Rs 50 as security deposit which will be refundable on return of the card.

The commuters can purchase smart card for a value of Rs. 100 upto a maximum value of Rs 800 depending upon their requirement.

The value in these cards can be topped-up/increased as per requirement of the passenger.

These cards are valid for 1 year from the date of purchase and can be renewed at any of the Metro stations.

The refundable deposit of Rs 50 will also be applicable to those who purchase Metro Tourist Cards which are valid for unlimited travel over the Metro for a single day (cost Rs 70) and for three days (cost Rs 200).

The existing smart cards will continue to be valid and card holders are advised to utilize the remaining values available in their cards before they opt for exchange to the new cards as the bonus amount cannot be refunded as per business rules.
