CPI(M) appeals to warring communities in Rajasthan to shun violence
New Delhi, June 2 (UNI) The CPI(M) today appealed to the Centre and the Rajasthan government to take appropriate measures to contain caste clashes, claiming four lives, in Rajasthan and restore peace and normalcy in the state.
The Party politbureau also appealed to leaders and members of the Gujjar and the Meena community to shun violence and find an amicable solution through dialogue.
It is unfortunate that the Gujjar community's agitation seeking ST status had now turned into caste clashes, the Left Party said in a statement.
Since the beginning of agitation death toll in the police firing and violence has crossed 24, it lamented.
''The opportunist policies and false promises of the BJP state government is responsible for the present situation. It is feared that the confrontation between the two communities may spread to other states,'' the Left party said.
The Rajasthan government and the Centre should take all the necessary steps to control the situation and restore peace and normal life in the disturbed areas, it added.
