CM says talks positive, announces Rs 5 lakh for victims' kin

Jaipur, June 2 (UNI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje tonight said the talks between the state government and the Gujjar leaders were held in a ''satisfactory'' manner and a consensus solution to end the five-day-old agitation was in sight.

''A consensus is in sight after talks between the government and the agitating Gujjar community leaders and a final understanding is likely to be arrived at tomorrow,'' Ms Raje said after her meeting with the Gujjar leaders.

Emphasising that the presence of Gujjar leader Col Kirodi Singh Baisala at the talks was ''important'', the Chief Minister expressed the hope that he would accept her invitation to join the dialogue.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also announced a compensation of Rs five lakh each to the next of kin of those killed in the violence and police firing during the agitation.

She also announced adequate financial assistance to the injured people.

Al least 24 people have been killed in the violence and police firing during the agitation so far.
