Centre alerts UP, MP, Delhi to prevent spill of Raj violence
New Delhi, June 2 (UNI) The Centre today directed the Rajasthan Government to initiate dialogue with Gujjar and Meena communities, involved in caste clashes, to maintain calm and alerted Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana to take steps to prevent spill over effect of the agitation in Rajasthan.
The Home Ministry has issued an advisory to Rajasthan to initiate dialogue with eminent persons of both communities, including those at the district level, to ensure peace and calm in the state. It has also advised the state to widely publicise joint appeals of prominent leaders from both the communities, an official spokesman said here.
The Ministry is in constant touch with the Rajasthan Government and monitoring the situation. The required para-military forces have been provided to the State.
The Ministry has also issued an advisory to the neighbouring states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi.
It has appealed to media not to carry any unverified reports and requested them to report events in a manner conducive to restoration of peace and normalcy.
