BJP demands CBI probe into charges of corruption
Shimla, Jun 2 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh unit of the BJP today demanded a CBI probe into charges of corruption levelled against Chief Minister and his wife in a CD, released by suspended Congress legislator Vijai Singh Mankotia recently.
Addressing mediapersons here today, state BJP president Jai Ram Thakur claimed that the party would win the Hamirpur by-polls with a huge margin.
This, he said, was due to three reasons, as Hamirpur was the bastion of the BJP, the choice of P K Dhumal as the BJP's candidate and the release of the CD in which corruption charges were levelled against the Chief Minister and his MP wife.
The release of the audio CD in the last leg of the campaign for the by-polls spelled doom for the Congress and its main plank of corruption boomeranged, he said.
The BJP leader apprehended that the Congress that had filed a complaint, accusing BJP of playing the audio CD during the election meetings in violation of model code of conduct, could get it converted to an FIR by this evening.
