Vizag new runway to commence operation by June third week

Visakhapatnam, June 1 (UNI) The new runway at Vizag airport would start operation by third week of June, after a team of Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) officials inspects it.

Talking to newspersons here today, Visakhapatnam MP N Janardhana Reddy said the runway would be ready by third week of June.

Minor works were on to set right defects in the new runway. They would be completed by June 10.

Meanwhile, the Air Travellers Association was planning to organise a celebration in the city to mark the opening of the new runway.

Certain reports speculate that Indigo Airlines and Spicejet were evincing interest to launch operations from the city.
