Jabalpur, June 1 (UNI) The ABVP passed various proposals today in their National Executive meeting in this cantonment town regarding the ''threat to sovereignty'' along the Indo-Bangla border, the educational panorama, the Centre's ''compromising'' policy, the Nandigram massacre of villagers on March 14 and celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Revolt of 1857.

Parishad General Secretary Suresh Bhatt and Secretary V D Sharma alleged before mediapersons that the educational policy, implemented over the past three years by the UPA regime, commercialised education and encouraged minoritism. A ''burning example'' of commercialisation was the fee hike in IIMs.

''There is a lack of clear guidelines, regarding education policy, in various ministries,'' Mr Bhatt said. The ABVP demanded that the Centre should formulate an overall policy on higher education.

Pointing out that the 4,096 km-long Indo-Bangla border - along West Bengal, Asom, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram - was in the grip of infiltrators, militants, smugglers and other criminals, Mr Bhatt said the Centre was directly responsible for this situation.

He added ''the country's unity and integrity have been endangered by the Centre's compromising policy that led to recent terrorist incidents. The police action at Nandigram killed more than a dozen people and injured hundreds. The West Bengal regime is adamant about wresting fertile land at Singur and handing it over to industrialists.'' The organisation also passed proposals about the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the revolt of 1857. From Independence Day to November 19 - Rani Lakshmibai's birth anniversary - rath yatras, cycle yatras, seminars, poetry conventions and streetplays will be conducted at colleges in various states. The ABVP's national meeting is scheduled between December 1 and 4 at Kanpur.
