Tata to roll out Rs 1 lakh car by 2008: Official

New Delhi, Jun 1: Commercial vehicle maker Tata Motors today said it will go ahead with its Singur plant despite all hurdles and will roll out its one lakh rupee car by 2008.

''Hectic construction is going on for the plant and we are not looking at any other land except Singur,'' a top Tata official said here, who did not want disclose his name.

For its wide range of commercial vehicles, South Africa is the company's biggest market. It is now looking at Russia in a big way for exports.

He added that Daewoo trucks will be in India by this year's end, but will be available in higher volumes once the golden quadrilateral is finished.

The company is also looking at joint ventures with many companies and announcements will be made soon.

Tata Motors will clearly surpass last year's target revenue of Rs 25,000 crore, he said.
