Probation Dept officers hand over reports to TADA Judge

Mumbai, June 1 (UNI) Officers of the Probation department today handed over a sealed envelope to Justice P D Kode, who is presiding over the designated TADA court hearing the 1993 blasts case.

The envelope apparently contained reports about the accused seeking probation. Among them is Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who is seeking release under Probation of Offenders Act after being convicted under the Arms act in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.

However, the envelope was not opened and kept in safe custody in the court.

The Probation Officer's report is awaited by the TADA court before pronoucing the verdict on quantum of punishment to be given to the accused.

Effectively, it may take another two weeks for Dutt's case to come up for sentencing.

Judge Kode has so far sentenced 63 convicts of the total 100 in the case.
