Policeman killed as militants ambush Army convoy in Kashmir
Baramulla, Jun 1 (UNI) A Jammu and Kashmir police personnel was killed when militants today ambushed an Army convoy at Sheeri, about six km from here on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road, sources said.
They said militants fired upon the Army convoy from a hillock as it was passing through the area at 1230 hrs this afternoon.
Troops retaliated the fire, resulting in a fierce gun-battle during which several bullets pierced through the walls of a police training centre at Sheeri.
A Jammu and Kashmir police constable, Anchal Singh, was killed in the exchange of fire, the sources said. Singh was hit by a stray bullet inside the police training centre complex, they added.
