Poet Shivarudrappa protests teaching of English
Bangalore, June 1 (UNI) National Poet G S Shivarudrappa has protested the teaching of English as a subject in Kannada medium schools from first standard from this academic year.
Participating in a dharna conducted at the Kannada Sahitya Parishad here he termed as "unscientific" the government decision to implement English from first standard. It was a decision taken in a hurry, he felt.
He said numerous education experts like Mahatma Gandhi, Poet K V Puttappa had favoured teaching in the mother of the students in their early formation stage.
The Kannada Sahitya Parishad would protest the decision of the government which was against the resolution passed at the Kannada meet held at Shimoga recently.
