Patil discusses repatriation of BRU migrants with Mizoram CM

New Delhi, June 1 (UNI) Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga called on Home Minister Shivraj Patil here to discuss the repatriation issue of Bru (Reang) migrants from Tripura to Mizoram.

During the meet last evening they agreed that this is a humanitarian problem and needs to be resolved at the earliest. The Home Minister offered to provide all possible help from the Centre to the State Government for rehabilitation of the migrants.

The Mizoram Government will expedite identification of migrants to satisfy itself that they belonged to Mizoram before they migrated to Tripura.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has been making persistent efforts for repatriation of Bru migrants who have gone to Tripura since 1997, said an official statement issued here today.
