One killed in police firing in Bihar
Samastipur, June 01 (UNI) One person died today of bullet injuries sustained last night, when police opened fire to quell a mob at Amritpur a village under Tajpur police station area here.
Police Superintendent Surendra Lal Das said here today that the incident took place, when the police team was coming from village Chaundauli market after apprehending a person facing arrest warrant.
Protesting against the arrest, the irate villagers blocked the road and later the Havildar Jagannath Jha opened fire allegedly in self defence.
Mr Das said that a villager Sanjay Thakur sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to the Patna Medical College Hospital, where the victim succumbed to injuries.
The Havildar was arrested and his service revolver seized.
Additional deployment had been made at the spot.
