More than Rs eight lakh stolen from LIC office in Hazaribagh

Hazaribagh, Jun 1 (UNI) More than Rs eight lakh in cash were stolen from the branch office of the LIC here last night, police said today.

Besides the cash, some cheques and blank cheque books were also kept in the chest at the LIC office, police added.

The site of the theft was barely 100 mts from the office of the District Superintendent of Police and a homeguard jawan was also deputed for security at the building, sources said.

Police said investigation was on and a case had been lodged at the Sadar police station.
