Mayawati gets reprieve; Taj Heritage case hearing on June 5
Lucknow, June 1 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati got a brief reprieve with a local court adjourning the hearing into the 175 crore Taj Heritage Corridor (THC) case till June 5.
The local court adjourned the date as Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar's permission for prosecution of the accused, Mayawati, is still awaited.
The affidavit filed by another accused, R K Sharma before the court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Rehka Dikshit, states the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is not investigating the Taj Corridor case as per the directions of the Supreme Court.
The special judge provided June 5 as the fresh date for hearing the case.
The CBI is awaiting the sanction of the Governor to go ahead with the prosecution of Ms Mayawati and five others, including the former State Environment Minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui.
Interestingly, the HTC case file was sent to the Governor by the Mulayam Singh Government on May 9, two days before the declaration of results of the Assembly election, which brought Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party to power.
