Headless body recovered, serial killings spectre raises head again
New Delhi, June 1 (UNI) In a gruesome reminder of the serial killings that rocked the capital in the past several months, one more headless body has been recovered from Punjabi Bagh area of West Delhi.
Despite police's tall claims of having arrested the 'serial killer' last month, the recovery of a body late last night, with hands and feet chopped off and head missing, has once again raised the spectre of serial killings in the capital.
The body of a male aged between 26-30 years was recovered from a 'jungle', away from the railway crossing in Madipur area, said police spokesman Rajan Bhagat, adding that there were no similarities between the last four serial killings of last month.
''The body had a black vest and yellow underwear on it and was probably of a beggar,'' Mr Bhagat said.
Mr Bhagat claimed that the dissimilarities between the serial killings and this killing was that while all other bodies were dumped on the main road, this one was found in a 'jungle', the wrapping of the body was also not of the same type as earlier ones and that the weapons used in 'those' killings and this one were different.
However, he was at pains to explain the similarities of missing limbs and head, body 'packed' in a similar sack and the same 'trademark' style of chopping hands and feet of the victim before dumping the body.
Meanwhile, as a saving grace, no 'note' was tagged to the body, claimed the police, which otherwise had been found in two of the three bodies recovered between October 2006 and April 2007.
Last month police had arrested one Chandrakant Jha and 'anointed' him as the killer behind the serial killings in the capital.
