HC rejects plea to stay cancellation of Arun Kumar's Ph.D

Kochi, June 1 (UNI) The Kerala high court today declined to stay a decision of the Kerala University to cancel the Ph.D registration of Mr V A Arun Kumar, the son of state Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan.

While declining to stay further proceedings initiated by the University following the cancellation order, Justice S Sirijagan issued notice to the university on a petition filed by Mr Arun Kumar, challenging the decision of the university syndicate.

The university took the step after finding Mr Arun Kumar ineligible on the ground that he did not have the requisite seven years of teaching practice.

The petitioner has contended that the finding of the syndicate was not sustainable.
