Court dismisses petition against Raj Thackeray
Mumbai, June 1 (UNI) A local court today dismissed a petition filed by a Nationalist Congress Party leader, Munna Tripathi, against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray for his alleged provocative speech against the Bihari community on March 9.
The 11th Metropolitan Court, Kurla, dismissed the petition due to lack of substantial evidence against Mr Thackeray. The court, in its brief order, said there is no concrete evidence to support the allegation.
Advocate Rajesh Dube, representing Mr Tripathi, said Mr Thackeray had allegedly made a provocative speech against the Bihari community which could have instigated enmity between groups on grounds of religion, race, language, and others.
Mr Tripathi had filed the petition under Section 153 (A) and 506 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
