Couple gets 7 yrs imprisonment for abetting suicide

Surendranagar, June 1 (UNI) A local court has sentenced a middle-aged couple to seven years imprsonment for abetting suicide of their daughter-in-law.

Sessions Judge V B Mayani found Nathabhai and Nanduben guilty of the crime and awarded the sentence yesterday. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 3,000 each on the couple.

According to prosecution, a few months ago Manjula (28) had consumed poison after giving it to her six month-old daughter the child had also died.

The victim's family later lodged a police complaint against her in-laws, claiming that Nathabhai and Nanduben had abetted Manjula's suicide by harassing her.
