Panaji, June 1 (UNI) With pre-monsoon dark clouds hovering over the sky, candidates contesting the Goa Legislative Assembly polls feared a low turnout even as the Met authorities did not rule out stormy and rainy weather tomorrow, when the state goes to polls.

The rain may mar their prospects due to low turnout, feel some candidates and even political parties.

The polling, which begins at 0800 hrs and ends at 1700 hrs, will decide the electoral fortunes of the contestants. The polls will be held amid tight security.

Even Congress spokesperson Shantaram Naik urged the Chief Election Commissioner to extend the polling time suitably, if it rains tomorrow.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is cloudy sky, rain or thundershowers, which will be accompanied by stormy and dusty winds.

The monsoon is likely to hit Goa either tomorrow or day after, even as pre-monsoon rain lashed the state for the last two days. The monsoon had already set in Kerala.
