Shillong, June 1 (UNI) The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today submitted its status report on the high profile murder case of a female domestic helper in the residence of former Meghalaya Director General of Police (DGP) William Richmond Marbaniang to the Gauhati High Court.

On March 17, Rinehskhem Kharsohnoh (26) was allegedly 'murdered' inside the residential premises of Mr Marbaniang, who was the DGP at the time of the incident.

After receiving the status report, the single bench comprising Justice H N Sarma and B P Katakey said the status report would be kept in a 'sealed cover' to prevent leakage.

The case, which was heard for the third time today, directed the Investigation Officer to file an affidavit regarding the progress of the investigation without furnishing the details which might affect the investigation.

Meanwhile, local advocate A H Hazarika filed a Public Interest Litigation into the mysterious death of the domestic help stating that ''police had created enough confusion in the minds of the general public and even tried their best to cover up the case as a suicide case even though it was a clear case of murder.'' Recently, a team of medical experts from the Gauhati Medical College had established that the case of the 26-year-old domestic help was a 'homicide' and not 'suicide'.

In fact, the CID claimed that they were already inching toward establishing a list of suspects involved in the killing of the domestic helper inside the high security compound of Mr Marbaniang.
