Uttarakhand Gujjars come out in support of their brethren

Dehradun, May 31 (UNI) Expressing solidarity with their brethren in Rajasthan, the Gujjar community in Uttarakhand today burnt in effigy Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje here in protest against the police firing that claimed 14 lives.

Demanding Ms Raje's resignation, scores of Gujjars gathered at the Gandhi Park and burnt her effigy. They also shouted slogans against Ms Eaje to express their anguish over the police firing on protesting Gujjars in Dausa and Bundi in Rajasthan.

They sought compensation of Rs 10 lakh and a job to at least one member of the deceased's family from the Union Government.

The protesting Gujjars, after burning the effigy, headed towards the District Collectorate and handed over a memorandum to the authorities.
