Sacha Sauda crisis defused, kudos to Akal Takht, Dera: Agnivesh
New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) Describing his recent visit to the 'Akal Takht' as very successful, social activist Swami Agnivesh today said the 'Sacha Sauda' crisis has been defused totally and both the states of Haryana and Punjab need to be lauded for resolving the imbrogies.
''The 'takrar' (conflict) between the 'Dera Sacha Sauda' and the 'Akal Takht' is over and the crisis totally defused. This was made possible by the determined efforts of both the states to ensure peace in the region.'' Both parties saw reason in the mediation and demonstrating magnanimity worked strenuously to bring peace in the region which otherwise was being exploited by vested interests, he told UNI while, however, adding that the measure was ''for the time being''.
Though they were not very satisfied with the tone and tenure of the 'mafinama' the highest temporal seat of Sikhs decided to bury the hatchet. The move has cleared the air which was agog with speculations of terrorism once again being revived, he said.
Refuting apprehensions of the crisis raising its ugly head once again, Swami Agnivesh said the present peace was a result of the ''intense desire'' of all parties involved to bring an end to the problem. And there was no reason to believe that any party would try to stoke the fire once again.
On the 'Scheduled Tribe' status to Gujjars in Rajasthan he said piecemeal doles were not a solution to any problem.
''We need to be sensitive to demands of people but doling out palliates without addressing the root of the problem would lead us no where.'' They will keep cropping up and would create problems every now and then. A permanent solution, involving discussion with all parties, would be an ideal way out, he added.
