Orissa police arrest six Bangladeshi robbers

Balasore, May 31 (UNI) The police have arrested six Bangladeshi dacoits and seized stolen articles worth over Rs six lakh from their possession.

The seized articles included 40 mobile hand set phones, 35 gms of gold ornaments, 12 wrist watches and many electronics gadgets.

The robbers, all in their early 20s, belonged to Hamidi village under Baang police station in Haridpur district of Bangladesh. They were identified as Arif Khan, Babu Khan, Md.Assadulla, Bausa Khan, Md.Abu Basar and Sk Zaheer.

Arif Khan, who was in Balasore for last seven years on the pretext of repairing umbrellas, was the master mind behind all crimes, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Eastern Range) B P Mohapatra told reporters here today.

The miscreants, who arrived here on May 14 last, were residing in a rented house at Sunhat in the town and started committing crime after making a reconnaissance in the area with the topographical inputs from master mind Arif Khan, Mr Mohapatra said.

The gang, who had planned to committing crime on every alternative day, was trying to flee when they were nabbed by the police.

Police said Arif Khan and Babu Khan were spotted by one home guard which led to the arrest of the other members. One of the gang members Sk Zaheer managed to escape but was later apprehended from Railway station, the DIG said.
