Ministerial committee a drama: Gujjar Mahasabha vice president

Jaipur, May 31 (UNI) All India Gujjar Mahasabha national vice president Gopichand Gujjar termed the four-member ministerial committee constituted by the government for talks with the community a ''drama'' and alleged that the government was not serious about resouring burning issue.

Talking to UNI here today he said the four ''junior ministers'' in the core group did not inspire any confidence in the community of finding a solution to the issue.

The former BJP MLA said, ''the Vasundhara Raje government in Rajasthan is not genuinely interested in talks but wants to fish in the troubled waters by inciting violence between the Meenas and Gujjars.'' He said if the government was at all serious, a situation like the one now would not have been there in the first place.

He said during the previous Congress government the BJP has promised the Gujjar community with reservation under ST list but even after three-and-a-half years the government has done precius little in this direction.

He said in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir the Gujjar community has already been included in the ST list. He said the agitation will not subside without any concrte action on the part of the government as it is not controlled by any leaders but is ''spontaneous outpouring'' of emotions of the community.

He arrested that Gujjars were not against the Meenas who already enjoy the benefits of reservation under the ST list.
