Ludhiana City Centre scam: Chahal gets interim bail till July 4

Chandigarh, May 31 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today granted till July 4 interim bail to Bharat Inder Singh Chahal, Media Advisor to former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, in connection with a case of multi-crore City Centre scam of Ludhiana Improvement Trust.

The case was registered by the state Vigilance Bureau on March 23 under the Prevention of Corruption Act against over a dozen people, including Capt Amarinder Singh, former Minister Jagjit Singh Chaudhary and others. The contract of the project was awarded to New Delhi-based company Today Homes.

Justice Uma Nath Singh also granted till July 4 bail to G K Gambhir, Managing Director of company Today Homes, Sunil Sharma, Vinay Subhiki and Syed Mohammed Ashraf Naqvi, senior officers of the company.

The verdict in this regard was kept reserved by the court yesterday.

However, arguments were inconclusive on Chahal's plea seeking direction to authorities concerned to give him a week's notice if he was to be arrested or questioned in connection with any case which might be registered against him. The same is to be heard further tomorrow.
