Kin of Missing Armed Forces Personnel to Pak in Search Mission
New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) Fourteen relatives of Indian Armed Forces personnel -- reported missing in the Western sector during the 1971 Indo-Pak war -- leave for Pakistan tomorrow to visit ten jails in that country in search of their relatives.
The delegation called on Defence Minister A K Antony today and requested him to arrange them a meeting with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf.
Promising that the Indian government would make ''all possible efforts'' through its High Commission to arrange such a meeting, Minister Antony further assured that the Government would continue to pursue the issue of missing Prisoners Of War ''till its logical conclusion''.
The seriousness of the Government, he pointed out, was reflected by the fact that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had taken up the issue at the highest level.
''Your visit is a breakthrough... I hope it will serve to clear the air about the whereabouts of your loved ones,'' Minister Antony told the group during a 50-minute meeting at his South Block office here.
The group is expected to visit jails in Karachi, Sukhur, Multan, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Mianwali, Rawalpindi, Swabi, Dargai and Lahore.
