New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today took suo motu cognizance of the sting carried out by a satellite channel, exposing the alleged collusion between the defence and the prosecution to save 1999 BMW hit-and-run case prime accused Sanjeev Nanda.

A Division Bench of Chief Justice M K Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Khanna directed the Registrar General of the High Court to collect all records related to the case and file a report before it by June 11.

''Its significance lays in the extent of malaise afflicting our justice delivery system,'' it said.

Sanjeev Nanda is the grandson of former Navy Chief S M Nanda. Six people were allegedly mowed down by his car while he was driving at Lodhi Road on January 10, 1999.

The sting aired on NDTV allegedly exposed the collusion between the prosecution and the defence lawyer.

Earlier in the day, a city court summoned the South district DCP to appear before it and submit the report of the investigation of the sting in the case.

Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Kumar also ordered a higher official of the channel to appear before it with all relevant records tomorrow.
