Girls outshine boys in UP Board results

Allahabad, May 31 (UNI) Girls outshine boys yet again in the Intermediate Examination 2007 conducted by Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board, results of which were declared today.

Namita Shukla of Rajat B V M Girls Inter College, Lucknow topped the list with 93.40 per cent marks, while her school mate Jyoti Singh came second with 92.80 per cent.

Saurabh Katiya from Lucknow Public Inter College came third in the merit list with 92.20 per cent.

A total of 16,99,752 students appeared for the examination, of which 15,18,536 have passed.

The pass percentage of boys is 86.86, while the girls secured 93.67. The overall pass percentage stood at 89.34 per cent.

Total regular and private students enrolled were 1,59,6219 and 1,47,165 respectively, which totalled 17,43,384.

The pass percentage of regular and private students is 90.47 and 75.67 respectively.
