Cabinet allows SSC men and women in IAF's flying branch
New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) The union cabinet today gave its approval to revision of Short Service Commission Scheme making both men and women eligible for SSC in flying branch of the Indian Air Force.
Finance Minister P Chidambaram, however, told reporters that the revision would put a SSC ceiling of 20 per cent in IAF's flying branch.
The term of engagement of SSC officers in the flying branch would be 14 years.
This decision would not only help in overcoming shortages in the air forces' flying branch but also help the civil aviation sector in the long run with scores of highly trained pilots becoming available for service.
