Srinagar, May 31: The Jammu and Kashmir Human Rights Commission (HRC) has directed the Director General(DG) of state police to constitute a special team to investigate the murder of a youth by senior counter insurgent leader Ghulam Mohammad Lone alias Papa Kishtwarri 12 year ago.

One Zahoor Ahmad, a resident of Nishat, in a petition to HRC alleged that his father, Ali Mohammad Mir was killed by Lone when he (Lone) was working for different security agencies in the valley in 1996.

The chairman of the commission Justice (rtd) M Y Kawoosa after going through the records presented by the peititoner along with the petition expressed surprise over why no investigation was taken up in the case and accused arrested by the police.

The petition further said that the police was refusing to conduct any investigations in the case and was allegedly trying to shield the accused because he was working with security agencies.

Justice Kawoosa directed the state police head to appoint a special team and get the entire incident investigated.

He further said that the report of the committee be submitted to the commission by July 9.

Papa Kishtwari is accused to have killed about 100 innocent people after labelling them as militants.
