2 killed in police firing in Sawai Madhopur;toll rises to 19
Jaipur, May 31 (UNI) Two persons were killed and four others injured when police opened fire to disperse a mob of Gujjar indulging in arson and violence at the police station and tehsil headquarters in Baunli town of Sawai Madhopur district.
According to official sources, the mob attempted to gherao the police station and attack policemen on duty. They also damaged property at the police post and the tehsil office.
The police opened fire, leaving two dead and at least four injured.
With this, the toll in the violence and police firing during protests, jams and bandhs by Gujjar community in state since Tuesday, has gone up to 19.
