Unhappy with changes in BJP, Arun Jaitley rushes to Nagpur
New Delhi, May 30 (UNI) Unhappy with the changes effected in yesterday's reshuffle of BJP Prabharis in the states, BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley rushed to Nagpur, the RSS headquarters last night.
According to sources, Mr Jaitley, who feels let down by being kept out of action in four states going to the polls during the next one and half years was in Sangh headquarters and returned this morning. The states going to the polls are Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh and Mr Jaitley has no role in any of these states.
Though the details of his meetings are not known, the sources said the lone functionary present in the headquarters was Mr Suresh Soni who handles the relations with RSS and BJP.
Mr Jaitley, regarded as the chief strategist steered the party to success in several states in the last assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Punjab recently was removed as Spokesman six months ago.
As a Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat, Mr Jaitley was expecting to be incharge of Gujarat state and his post in UP after elections holds no charm as no elections are due till the next Parliamentary elections in 2009.
Mr Jaitley, after yesterday's reshuffle, has maintained that he viewed his UP assignment as an opportunity to turn the fortunes of the BJP in country's biggest and populous state.
After Pramod Mahajan's death the BJP General Secretary was expecting the party to recognise his contribution and allow him to be Secretary of BJP's decision making bodies of Parliamentary Board as well as Central Election Committee. He has only one cap -- the Secretary of Parliamentary Board, while another BJP General Secretary Ananth Kumar is the Secretary of the Election Committee, the sources added.
