Tripura wants Rs 81 crore under Rural Health Mission

Agartala, May 30 (UNI) The Tripura government has demanded Rs 81 crore under Rural Health Mission (RHM) during current fiscal to ensure proper implementation of health programme in rural areas.

State Health Minister Tapan Chakraborty here today said that Tripura did not get the total sanctioned fund of Rs 63 crore under RHM.

''In the meeting on RHM in Delhi on May 25, we have discussed that more fund is required in the state for proper implementation of the health programme in rural areas,'' Mr Chakraborty said.

He, however, stated that the state government had planned to set up 31 primary health centres and 16 community centres in the remote locations of the country before 2012 and extend modern facilities to the Sub-Divisional hospitals.

The state had emphasised on several measures under RHM to combat infant mortality rate keeping in mind that at present Tripura tops the NE states in this regard, Mr Chakraborty added.
