Woman from West Bengal among three killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 29 (UNI) Three persons, including a woman from West Bengal, were killed in the Kashmir valley today, a police spokesman said.

He said one Akhter Ahmad Reshi committed suicide when he jumped into the Jhelum river at Amira Kadal early this morning.

A massive operation was launched to fish out his body.

It was however, not known why the youth took this extreme step.

The official said a woman identified as Masooma daughter of Latief Malla, a resident of West Bengal, committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at Natipora this morning. She was admitted to hospital where she died.

One Mohammad Ismail Rather was killed when he was hit by a speedy truck at Bijbehara in south Kashmir today.

An army vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep nullah at Jawahar tunnel. However, no one was injured.
