JK: DFCO barred unregistered drugists

Jammu, May 29: Jammu and Kashmir Drugs and Food Control Organisation (DFCO) has asked unregistered drug dealers not to sell or stock up on Oxytocin injections, prescribed for veterinary use.

Taking serious note of malpractices by some unregistered drug dealers, the DFCO has refrained them from dealing with Oxytocin injections to avoid violation of Provisions of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, an official statement said.

''Only retail drug sale outlets can sell these (Oxytocin) drugs on the prescription of veterinarian by observing strict storage condition,'' it said.

The wholesalers, it said, should sell it only to retail sale drug outlets and not to unregistered dealers or dairy owners.

And also, the wholesalers as well as the retailers should maintain proper purchase and sale records.

Action under the PDC Act would be initiated against the unregistered dealers indulging in sale, stocking and purchase of Oxytocin injections, the DFCO said.
