Security beefed up after threat call

Mumbai, May 29 (UNI) Security has been beefed up at the Chhatrapati Shivaji airport here after the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) received two calls from an unidentified person threatening to blow up the airport.

CISF Airport Commandant Sanjay Prakash told UNI here today that they received two threat calls yesterday.

''An unidentified person called up the CISF at around 1130 hrs yesterday. Speaking in chaste Hindi, he said 'airport ko kal kuuch ho sakta hay' (something could happen to the airport tomorrow). An hour later, airport Manager too got a similar call. ''We, informed the police about the calls and investigation revealed that the call was made from one of the public booths at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport,'' Mr Prakash said.

''Subsequently, we called a security committee meeting to review the situation,'' he said. Security at all the airports in the country is looked after by the CISF.

The Mumbai police has also deployed 50-60 cops at all entry and exit points at the airport. the CISF commandoes are maintaining vigilance and visitors are being observed as a precautionary measure.

Recently, the police control room had received a call threatening to blow up the World Trade Centre here.
