Scores of agitating employees wounded in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 29 (UNI) Scores of employees were wounded when police used force to prevent them from taking out a protest march here, demanding reimbursement of salary and increase in other allowances.

Hundreds of employees of various government departments gathered at Lal Chowk here to take out the march.

The protesting employees, under the banner of the Public Sector Employees and Workers Federation, took out a procession from Lal Mandi, demanding reimbursement of salary and increase in allowances.

As soon they reached the Clock Tower at Lal Chowk, police resorted to heavy baton charge to disperse the angry protestors.

Scores of employees were wounded.

Later, the employees tried to regroup and march toward the Civil Secretariat here, but were stopped by the police who this time used water cannons.
