Guj: CM creates record of 2062 days rule

Gandhinagar, May 29: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is set to create a record for his longest and continuous rule of 2,063 days as on June 1 this year.

Mr Modi took over the charge as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001 and so far leads the public administration with his longest spell, said an official release here yesterday.

Gujarat, established in 1960, has so far had 14 Chief Ministers ruling the State in last 47 years. Late Hitendra Desai ruled for maximum of 2,062 days whereas Mr Modi will set a record on June 1.

It is noteworthy that when Mr Modi took over as CM of Gujarat on October 7, 2001 Gujarat's economy was down after a severe earthquake. Mr Modi won praise for creating a new identity with his 'Vibrant Gujarat' as the best administrator, by giving a new work culture to the State through transparent administration.

He initiated various schemes and involved public participation in the process of development.

He won the confidence of 5.5 crore Gujaratis and led Gujarat to its pinnacle of glory in industrial, agricultural, economical and social infrastructural sector, utilize power of five best developmental elements 'Panchamrut', the release said.

Mr Modi as a Chief Minister has secured special achievements in the State's democratic rule. Prior to becoming Chief Minister, he had never contested an election. He had worked for the party organisation and devoted himself for social services, the release said.

He never was on any position in government or in public life the except party.

A political career of late Hitendra Desai as a CM includes two separate party ideology that is United Congress and Sanstha Congress whereas Mr Modi's political and public life career is moulded by RSS and BJP Ideology.
