I did not violate model code of conduct-Modi
Patna, May 29 (UNI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today denied violating the election model code of conduct by using a beacon light fitted official car during his visit to a polling booth to cast vote during Patna municipal elections.
Mr Modi told UNI that he was unnecessarily being dragged into the controversy as he cast his vote in Patna, while on way to attend an official function in Hajipur.
''As usual, I was travelling in an official car to attend the function in Hajipur, which was parked far away from the polling booth and then I went to cast vote on foot,'' he clarified and said it could not be termed as violation of the model code of conduct.
Meanwhile, police said the FIR was yet to be lodged against Mr Modi for alleged violation of the model code of conduct.
After the matter was brought to his notice, state election commissioner J K Dutta directed district magistrate of Patna B Rajendra to inquire into the matter and report to the commission at the earliest.
Earlier during the day, Mr Modi had allegedly entered into polling booth guarded by his armed escorts in an official car, to cast his vote during the Patna Municipal Corporation election.
